BIMM DUBLIN CLASS OF 2017 BASH

Time has flown – it only feels like last week when we welcomed BIMM Dublin’s Class of 2017 for the very first time. Sadly all good things come to an end, and we have to bid a fond farewell – for now at least – to our latest stock of talented graduates.

But before we say goodbye, we’ll be marking the end of the term in style with our annual BIMM LIVE summer bash, which takes place this Friday (June 9th). The annual event will feature no less than 40 must-see bands and five DJs from BIMM Dublin across four great music venues, all within a 150-metre radius.

As always, we’ll be bringing an eclectic mix of genres from BIMM Dublin with an extensive list of hotly-tipped BIMM musicians and future stars poised to play, including new-age rockers Sub Motion and indie misfits Shrug Life.

If melancholic alt-rock is your thing – think Smashing Pumpkins and Sonic Youth – you’ll want to check out Wicklow natives Look to the Lady, who have singled out BIMM favourites MUNKY as their must-see group. The band who blend rock and disco have impressed this year, and their recent show at Dublin’s famed Whelan’s bar is proof of that. In their words, MUNKY has been ‘born from a freak accident in which a shipment of Tesco lager cans collided with Chic’s tour bus’ – if that doesn’t make you curious, we don’t know what will.

Of course, we recommend checking out as many musicians as you can – we’re expecting great things of this bunch; you won’t want to miss a single performance.

The event is completely free and open to all members of the public. Doors will open at 5:30 pm with bands playing from 6 pm at the Tivoli Theatre, Stage 19, The Liberty Belle and The Jug, all of which can be found on Francis Street (all D8).

Keeping the party going will be a line-up of DJs who will bring a more electronic vibe to the day’s celebrations. They’ll be playing long into the night at smaller venues until 1:30 am and the Tivoli until 2:30 am.

There will also be an after party at the Tivoli for those looking to carry on, as well as a mouth-watering Brazilian barbecue, courtesy of The Kitchen, at the Tivoli. Wristbands are available from all venues from 5:30 pm onwards and allow access to the after party – spaces are limited for the after show so arrive early to avoid disappointment.
