Conor is Ireland’s foremost jazz drummer and educator. He’s toured and recorded with some of the finest jazz musicians in the world today, including Larry Coryell, John Abercrombie, David Liebman, Kenny Werner, Joe Lovano and many others. He’s also an expert in Afro-Cuban music, directing many different ensembles including everything from small trios to Latin jazz big bands, and his innovations in the area of the application of Cuban clave concepts have led to an international demand for his teaching.
As such, he’s lectured in many of the top music colleges in the world, including Berklee College of Music in Boston, the American School of Jazz in Paris, the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, the Lima Souza Conservatory in Sao Paolo, and The New School and Drummers Collective in New York. He’s also published two books with Advance Music – ‘Odd Meter Clave’ and ‘Rhythmic Reading for Drummers’ – as well as writing for Modern Drummer magazine.
