Andrew graduated with distinction from Edinburgh Napier University’s PGDip Careers Guidance and Development course in 2012, having previously gained a Masters degree in Historical Research from the University of Sheffield. His development as a careers advisor started in the supported employment sector where he helped individuals with autism into employment, and raised the awareness of employers of their responsibility to provide equal opportunities in recruitment. Andrew continued to work with individuals with significant barriers to employment upon moving to Manchester in 2014, before fulfilling his career ambition and moving into to Higher Education guidance, first at Manchester Metropolitan University, and now as Industry Placements and Careers Officer for BIMM Manchester.
In this role Andrew is able to combine his significant career guidance experience and labour market studies with his love and knowledge of music. Creative careers formed the basis of Andrew’s Postgraduate research, and his work at BIMM, surrounded by music industry professionals and enthusiastic students, is further developing his knowledge and experience in this area. Andrew is available for one to one tutorials to discuss all aspects of career development in the music industry, and delivers workshops and in-class sessions on employability and professional development.
