Fees and Finance

Everything you need to know

We’re dedicated to giving our students the best value music education possible – which means accessing our globally successful first-rate tutors in a dedicated location at the epicentre of the local music industry…not to mention the option of spending a year studying at another BIMM College in the UK or Berlin.

Such cutting-edge facilities can be expensive, but we make sure all BIMM courses are great value for money and offer qualifying students a variety of financial support initiatives like bursaries and scholarships – representing a practical and affordable investment for your future career in the music industry.

At BIMM we’re determined to offer our students exceptionally good value for money. All BIMM three-year undergraduate degree courses are priced at £7,650 for UK and EU students, £1,600 less than many UK universities.

Student finance is available to eligible students for all BIMM undergraduate degree courses. Tuition Fee Loans will cover the full course fee and Maintenance Loans are available to eligible UK students to help with living costs while studying.*

Student Loans

The BIMM Institute has recently registered with the Office for Students (OfS) the new regulator of all Higher Education Institutions in the UK.

This has several implications for our institution and in particular affects the loans that students at BIMM, in the UK, can receive in respect of their tuition fee.

BIMM students can now apply for a student loan to cover the full amount of their tuition fee (£7,650). Previously the maximum loan available was £6,165.

While the current maximum student loan available for tuition fees as allowed by the Department for Education (DfE) is £9,250, the current BIMM course fee structure is not expected to change in respect of the Academic Year 2019/20. The rules on eligibility remain unchanged – only the amount is different.

You will be able to apply for your loan once we have listed our 2019/20 courses on the Student Finance website. We expect this to be completed in the next few weeks and we will notify you by email as soon as you are able to finalise your loan application.

For more information visit officeforstudents.org.uk/the-register.

*Listed course fees and student finance information applies to students who are enrolling on an undergraduate degree course in 2019/20.

Students from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales should select the appropriate link for finance:

EU students may be able to get a student loan to cover tuition costs. If you’re an EU student, information on how to apply can be found at: direct.gov.uk/studentfinance (please select ’students from other EU countries’).

If you are an EU student applying to our UK colleges, see our update on Brexit.

BIMM is dedicated to helping musicians and songwriters develop their skills, talents and self confidence, while gaining a nationally recognised Further or Higher Education qualification. Every academic year, we’re able to offer a limited number of scholarships and bursaries to talented and dedicated applicants and students who are in financial hardship.

These are suitable for candidates on any level of course, however, ideally for those courses incurring fees.

BIMM Bursary

We’re pleased to be able to offer our students the opportunity to apply for a BIMM Bursary. It’s specifically for gifted and committed applicants who are struggling financially, and in order to be eligible, your household income must be below £25,000 per annum.

The BIMM Bursary will be for £1,500 for one year only and is awarded to six students at each BIMM college within the UK. If your application is successful, you’ll receive the money in three instalments at the beginning of each term.

The criteria in order to be considered are as follows. You must:

  • Be a UK or EU national
  • Be in financial hardship
  • Have good studentship (current students only)

There are a few steps involved in the application process and we’re happy to assist with any queries you may have along the way to ensure your form is completed easily and thoroughly.

Applications for 2019/20 entry will open soon.
