In celebration of BIMM Dublin’s graduating class of 2015, students hosted their own one-night music festival which took place across four well-known city venues.
BIMM Live packed a huge amount of talent into one celebratory evening. The line-up boasted almost forty bands, soloists and DJs performing sets at Thomas House on Thomas Street, The Back Loft on Augustine Street, and The Tivoli and Tivoli Backstage on Francis Street – all within easy reach of the BIMM campus in Dublin’s D8, and all for free!
Artists on the ‘BIMM Live’ bill included bands like the hotly-tipped Blades Club, who recently scored a Number 1 on the Irish iTunes Rock Chart, as well as We Were Giants, Whitetrash, Fallen Lights, Pockets, Orchid Collective and more.
Class of 2015 solo artists who performed at the festival included Clara Byrne, Carrie Haskins, Aisling Rowe and Paddy Fitzgerald, bringing a breadth of musical styles that characterises the best of BIMM.
The graduation festival ran from early evening to the small hours. Event hosts for the evening’s entertainment included Graham Hopkins, Róisín Dwyer of Hotpress and Conor Donovan of The Ruby Sessions.
An undoubted highlight of the festival was the ‘Class of 2015 Finale’ at The Tivoli which saw around twenty graduating students gather together on stage to perform a medley of live songs picked for the occasion – the Bob Dylan classic ‘I Shall Be Released’, The Beatles/Joe Cocker song ‘A Little Help From My Friends’ and Arcade Fire’s triumphant singalong ‘Wake Up’.
DJs Disco City, Bevin King and Mix & Fairbanks kept the party going until late, finishing up a fun and emotional night for the graduating class. With music at the heart of BIMM, a musical celebration like BIMM Live seems the perfect way to mark all of the hard work and commitment shown by our students. Here’s to many more concerts and a bright future for the class of 2015!
