BIMM Manchester Songwriting student Charli White and her band have been shortlisted in the penultimate round of Firestone’s ‘Road To The Mainstage’, a competition which has seen some of the UK’s best bands competing for a prize package worth £25k.
The prize package includes the chance to play at a top UK music festival, as well as two more high profile live slots at Good Karma Club and the Orange Amplification Anniversary. Plus, exclusive use of a VW Transporter for a year, equipment upgrades and recording time at a renowned studio; all to help artists on their road to the main stage.
Charli White said of experience so far:
“Firestone’s Road to Main Stage this year has been a really great experience for us. I kind of put the application in not thinking much about it, so when we got the email through saying we’d been shortlisted in the top 6 I was so shocked-I think the band were too (Dejeanté Hinks, Connor Crossland, James Sampson).”
She continued: “I think it’s already helped in us ways. It’s given me a bit more confidence in what we’re doing and I’m beyond pleased the guys at Firestone saw something they liked it in what we do. Winning though, and the advantages that come with that, would really help us achieve what we know we’re capable of, and help us develop and progress as artists in ways that we might not be able to on our own. At the moment, I’m just excited to see what happens. We’re working hard to try and make it to the top three and we’d love the chance to perform in the final but whatever the outcome I think we’re just pleased with how far we’ve come.”
It’s now up to the public to decide who will make it through to the final live performance round of the competition. But, in case you need an extra incentive to cast your vote, Orange Amplification are offering 14 pairs of headphones worth £149.99 plus the chance to win a VIP festival experience for 2 in 2019. Everyone who votes goes into the daily draw to win these top prizes.
