Our 2020 courses have been developed with the music industry, for the music industry so that you’ll have the best opportunities to build a fulfilling career in an area you’re passionate about.
We’ve introduced a range of exciting new courses with elements never seen at BIMM before. It’s all part of our commitment to continually re-evaluate and reassess what we offer so you can have the most relevant and up-to-date music education possible.
Developed with the music industry, for the music industry
We’ve worked closer than ever with the industry to find out what they need from the next generation of music professionals. From our close workings with the industry, it’s clear that being multi-skilled is what’s needed to succeed today. So, we have designed our new undergraduate courses with this in mind.
If you chose to study at BIMM, you’ll have the chance to learn multiple skills along the way via a range of brand new optional modules. We understand that everyone is different, with their own dreams, aspirations, passions and career goals. So, if you are studying Drums, but also have an entrepreneurial spirit, you can study a selection of Music Business modules and expand your knowledge and skills in different areas. Alternatively, if you are a Music Producer who wants to enhance your songwriting capabilities, we have modules to help you achieve that.
It’s so great that BIMM are embracing changes and developments in the industry and actively getting advice and suggestions from those that work on the front line. The newly-developed courses look like they’re going to be pretty amazing!

Introducing Joint Honours Degree Courses
As a first at BIMM, we are introducing joint honours degrees to our course schedule. Our joint honours courses mean that you can spread your talents across two disciplines and achieve academic recognition for a multi-skilled specialism.
You can study two passions together or complement a performance discipline with business-based knowledge. All of our joint honours are weighted 50:50, so there is no major or minor subject.
As well as learning about the two titled disciplines, you’ll also learn the fundamental employability skills needed to work in the wider music industry. Our new joint honours degrees sit alongside our single honours degree courses – all of which are available to view on our Study page.
It’s great to see that BIMM are thinking two steps ahead when looking to carve out paths for their students in a rapidly changing landscape.

Validated by BIMM Institute
On 14th March 2019, BIMM Institute was granted Taught Degree Awarding Powers in the UK by an Order from the Privy Council after demonstrating that it meets the criteria to become a ‘recognised body’ for awarding degrees in the UK.
As such, BIMM Institute has overall responsibility for the academic standards and the quality of the qualifications we offer – and we are able to award our own undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. This means you’ll graduate with a degree from Europe’s most prestigious and connected music institute.
I just wish something like this had been around when I was a teenager desperately trying to think of a way into the music industry.

We are incredibly proud of the changes we have made to our courses this year. These developments will help us to deliver against our primary goal: to support you in finding fulfilling employment within the music industry
