JAMES BAY NOMINATED FOR FOUR BRIT AWARDS

Alumni Success

BIMM alumnus James Bay has been nominated for four Brit Awards.

James, who won the Brits’ Critics’ Choice award last year, studied guitar at BIMM Brighton, is nominated for British male solo artist, British breakthrough act, MasterCard British album of the year with ‘Chaos And The Calm’ and British single with ‘Hold Back The River’.

Vaseema Hamilton, principal of BIMM’s London, Brighton, Bristol and Berlin colleges, has nothing but praise for James:

“If any young professional deserves to reap the rewards of their prodigious talent, hard work and absolute dedication to their music it is James Bay. As soon as James joined us at BIMM in Brighton we knew he was something very special – an incredible guitar player with a mature, blues based sound, combined with unique and memorable vocals.”

Ian Sillett, Head of Songwriting, described him as the “perfect student”. He said, “I couldn’t be happier for James. As soon as he started we knew he would go far.”

The ceremony takes place on February 24 at London’s O2 Arena, and BIMM will be glued to our TV sets on the night. Good luck James!!
