Aside from studying a BA (Hons) in Music Production at BIMM Birmingham, James Cox is an independently signed minimal House/Dub DJ. This summer, he’ll be performing on the Habits Records stage at one of the UK’s premier electronic music festivals -WE ARE FSTVL.
Taking place on an Upminster airfield, WE ARE FSTVL has experienced sell-out crowds and exponential growth since its inception five years ago, having featured headline performances from the likes of Craig David, Carl Cox, Dizzee Rascal and Basement Jaxx, plus secondary-stage appearances from the likes of Armand Van Helden, Katy B, Wiley and Duke Dumont.
By featuring on this line up, James will be joining a who’s-who of the UK dance industry, with 2018’s event looking set to build on an impressive track-record of ticket sales – capacity was recently being increased to 15,000.
Perhaps most impressive about the news, is the fact that this will be James’ debut festival appearance. He explains how he’s feeling about hitting the stage at one of the South of England’s most sought-after festival slots;
“It’s unreal! I’m so grateful for the opportunity. It was actually one of my goals for 2018 to play a festival, so to be able to achieve that is a huge motivator for me and a sign of whats to come, really. Most of all though, I can’t wait to be there and to show people my sound and the sound of Habits Records.”
Aside from other live appearances including Lightbox (London) and Engine Room (Birmingham), James has recently been releasing tracks from his debut EP “Inside Myself” for free download/streaming.
We look forward to hearing all about his experience and will be keeping a close eye on his progress during his Music Production course and beyond.
