La Lune Featured on NME Emerging

27 February, 2018

BIMM Brighton student ‘La Lune’ was recently featured on NME’s newly launched artist platform ‘NME Emerging’. The site gives artists the chance to create and manage their own artist profile, post tracks to their news feed and embed posts and links from other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Spotify and Soundcloud.

Once an artist has created their profile, it becomes viewable and searchable to the whole of NME.com’s 10 million regular monthly visitors. And the best part? The service is completely free to create and maintain.

BA (Hons) Songwriting undergraduate La Lune’s music impressed NME so much that her profile was then shared on NME’s music radar blog, which described her unique brand of haunting pop as “a beautiful blend of James Blake and The Japanese House”.

We spoke to the talented songwriter about her experience of the NME Emerging platform so far.

“I hadn’t heard about NME Emerging until someone who had used it before suggested I use it. It is really easy to set up. It even gives you a template of questions if you’re stuck to write a bio that covers all bases, which I found really helpful, as they asked questions I hadn’t even thought about, and so it obviously made the subsequent article they posted far more interesting.”

So, does she think the service it’s worth artists signing up to?

“I think it is really beneficial – being featured in NME feels like quite an honour as it is a nationally, if not internationally recognised music magazine (despite its popularity declining in recent years), and so it sort of helps to establish a sense of legitimacy of you as an artist – particularly by posting it on your social media etc. Being able to make an Instagram or Facebook post about an NME feature looks really great to other people! I gained some good contacts out of it, and a few followers, too.”

We’re glad La lune’s music is getting the attention it deserves, and look forward to hearing more from the young up-and-comer soon.
