It’s Monday, so that means it’s time for Track of the Week! Having recently signed with Kid Massive, Nicky Miles latest track Old School, featuring PaulRock is our Track of the Week. Check it out…
What was the inspiration behind your track?
I wanted to collaborate someone who wasn’t Electronic Dance Music related. So, my friend – PaulRock, rock-influenced guitar player, became my collaborator on this track! I got the idea of EDM-drops during one of my studio jamming sessions and then I showed my demo to Paul, so he could workout rock-forced breakdown.
What did your songwriting process involve?
All we needed was my PC, audio interface and Paul’s guitar :) We did not have any idea of the track before we started working on the idea that we used in the final version of the track: we just set up my bedroom studio and started jamming!
What things do you do differently to other bands?
As far as I am not a band, but an electronic dance music producer, I will paraphrase this question :) What do I do differently to other DJs/producers is that I am always open to collaborate artists and bands who work in a completely different style and genre than me.
Can you describe your sound in three words?
Fat, Groovy, Festival
What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?
Opportunities of networking with industry professionals and using studio rooms.
What’s the best bit of music advice you’ve been given?
‘Never copy someone else and develop your own style!’
What’s next for you?
Hopefully the Grammys :D
But, talking seriously, I just want to improve my sounding as a Progressive Groove House music producer and collaborate with people I never worked with before.
