BIMM Bristol Music Production student Joe Pilton added a yet another accolade to his growing list of successes this week, with the announcement of his brand new remix of The Chainsmokers latest single ‘Kills You Slowly’.
His latest remix saw the nineteen-year old combining his signature future-bass sound with a darker edge, giving the Chainsmokers’ newest release a twist that’s a little different to his previous output.
“I fell in love with the original from Alex & Drew…” exclaimed the up and coming producer. “…but when I listened it spoke to me in a deeper, darker image; which is what I emphasised and tried to push in my remix. I wanted something that would almost sound angry yet retain its meaning; the song’s about being in an unhealthy relationship so I almost wanted to make it darker and unforgiving in its tone – but also be something that would go off live, haha”.
Having already notched up releases on major label imprints, this latest remix marks a significant step up for the young producer, with Chainsmokers being an internationally known and Grammy Award-winning act.
Pilton explained his excitement at being given the opportunity to officially remix a track from one of the biggest DJ/production duos in the world right now.
“In regards of commercially remixing The Chainsmokers, it’s a dream come true. They’re big influences to me and I love how they continue to develop and push the boundaries of pop/dance music. I appreciate them and their management a lot for giving me these shots.”
We’re incredibly pleased to see yet more success from one of BIMM Bristol’s most promising electronic music talents and look forward to hearing more from Pilton as his career progresses.
