SikTh announced for Marshall Summer School

Special guest tutors

One of the most appealing features of BIMM Summer Schools are the special guests who join the students each year to help them hone their professional practice and performance skills.

This year’s Marshall Summer School at BIMM London is thrilled to welcome the long-established and recently-reformed London-based metal outfit SikTh to work with BIMM students and tutors for a week of classes in August.

The Marshall Summer Schools specialise in teaching performance skills in guitar, bass, drums and vocals for the heavy rock, metal and punk end of the musical spectrum. SikTh describe their musical output as ‘Progressive, Tech, Math and State of the Art Speed Metal’, making a perfect match for the students pursuing a heavy rock/metal sound in their own writing.

SikTh are made up of Justin Hill (vocals), Dan Weller (guitar), James Leach (bass), Pin (guitar), Mikee W. Goodman (vocals) and Dan ‘Loord’ Foord (drums). They formed in 2001 and won favour from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer and BBC Radio 1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbs, headlining tours and playing rock festivals across the country.

This year’s Marshall Summer School runs at BIMM London from Monday 10th to Friday 14th August. Day One sees SikTh singer Mikee Goodman working with the vocals tutorials, with James Leach taking on bass-playing tutorial duties the following day. On Wednesday it’s the turn of Graham Pinney to meet with budding guitarists and on Thursday the entire band will be on hand to meet the Summer School students and perform their music live. We are very lucky to have SikTh drummer Dan Foord sitting in as BIMM drumming tutor for the full week!

Each band member will spend time with their instrument group in the morning, looking at technical matters and rehearsal, before attending live performance workshops in the afternoon with all the students brought together to form their own bands. This close attention from professional musicians is a major bonus of our Summer School programmes and we know this year’s Marshall Summer School will be another super-loud success story.
