Skinny Lister are the dynamic folk-punk-pop six-piece making big waves on the live circuit, and we mean waves – the energetic band even managed two festivals in 24 hours, turning in sets at both Into the Wild and 2000trees on the same day!
Skinny Lister drummer Thom Mills is a graduate of BIMM Brighton and has played with the band since 2014. Their packed live schedule has included recent dates in Switzerland, France and Germany, to be followed by forthcoming festival dates in the UK and Europe.
The biggest tour news of all is that the band have landed a support slot for folk star Frank Turner on his US tour in September and October. It’s shaping up to be something of an American epic – thirty dates, opening in Philadelphia before taking in New York, Washington, California and others, and finishing up in Texas. It will be huge exposure for the band, not to mention an excellent musical road trip adventure.
Skinny Lister are no stranger to high profile support slots, having toured the UK with Boy George last year, while still finding time for their own headline dates too of course. When drummer Thom isn’t on the road he also sessions for two other bands, Ed Prosek and Derelicts, and has his own private drum teaching business, helping musicians hone their drum skills.
After the US tour, the Frank Turner support slot will continue on home turf as the band open for him on his UK November dates. They also make appearances at Reading & Leeds, the Cambridge Folk Festival and at Riot Fest in the US.
Skinny Lister are Thom Mills on drums, Lorna Thomas on lead vocals, Dan Heptinstall on vocals and guitar, Max Thomas on vocals, melodeon and mandolin, Sam ‘Mule’ Brace on guitar, concertina and vocals, and Michael Camino on the double bass and vocals. Their new album Down on Deptford Broadway is out now.
