Everybody knows that the music industry is a highly competitive area to break into. So, if working in the music business has always been your ambition – what do you do? Do you give up on your goal because it’s too hard? No, of course not! What you do instead is to seek out the people who can help make your dream a reality.

And that’s where BIMM comes in!

We offer a series of highly vocational, real-world Diploma courses at our London, Brighton and Manchester colleges, in fields including Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals, Songwriting, Music Production, Music Business, and Live Sound and Tour Management. Courses are FREE to UK and EU school leavers aged 18 and under in Brighton and Manchester and aged 17 and under in London.

Not only do these Diplomas provide you with a solid foundation of musical knowledge and technique, but they also teach you all you need to know about the reality of the music industry, while at the same time connecting you directly to it.

BIMM’s unique form of industry networking is all about collaboration. We connect our Diploma students to regular music business experiences, including Masterclasses hosted by internationally renowned guest artists, end-of-term gigs, A&R panels, the annual BIMM album, and participation in our summer festival work experience scheme which sees students of all levels and disciplines set-up, run and perform at these events.

We also have a dedicated career planning and support programme which provides you with ongoing engagement with the industry in the form of work placements, internships, CV advice, job hunting and more.

And do you know what? We must be doing something right, because our recent Graduate Survey has found that 81% of our graduates are employed within six months of leaving BIMM. And of those, 64% are working directly in the music industry in roles such as performer, music business executive, producer, teacher and more.

We’re so pleased that our strong focus on networking and the building of music connections for our students has proven to be a huge success, with 59% of employed graduates finding their work as a direct result of an industry connection they established while studying at BIMM.

One recent BIMM Diploma graduate who has landed a top job in the music industry is soul vocalist, Izzy Bizu, whose new single ‘Adam & Eve’ is receiving BBC Radio 1 airplay. She’s also just toured as the support act for Sam Smith, has played Glastonbury twice, and will be performing at this year’s Latitude festival.

Other Diploma success stories include Ben Thompson – Two Door Cinema Club’s session drummer – and singer Kate Stewart, who features on Dutch producer Oliver Heldens’ massive UK Top 5 hit ‘Last All Night (Koala)’ and has recently been touring with ultra cool house duo, Bondax.

So… what does all this tell you? It shows that a Diploma from BIMM really does connect you to both the workforce and the music business… and that connectivity is the key to music industry success.

If a career in the music industry is what you’re striving for, then there’s no better place to study than BIMM.
