Tom Odell 2014 Ivor Novello Songwriter of the Year

Congratulations to alumni Tom Odell!

A huge congratulations to BIMM Brighton alumni, Tom Odell, who has been named Songwriter of the Year at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards. Recent years have seen Tom really making his mark in the music industry.

With sold out shows, a Critics’ Choice Brit Award, appearances at major festivals such as Glastonbury, and achieving a UK number one with his debut album release ‘Long Way Down’ it seems there’s no stopping him! The Ivor Novello Awards have been presented since 1956 and recognise excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composition. They are set up in the memory of Welsh composer and actor, Ivor Novello, who became one of the most popular British entertainers of the first half of the 20th century.

The win is a real honour for Tom, who received the prestigious award at a ceremony held at Grosvenor House in London. Other winners on the night included Nick Cave, London Grammar and James Blake. Past Ivor Novello winners include David Bowie, Adele, Kate Bush, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Robbie Williams and Amy Winehouse.
