Wasuremono featured on BBC Radio 6 Music's album of the day

BIMM Bristol alternative indie pop quartet Wasuremono achieved a fantastic feat this week when their brand new album ‘Are You OK?’ was selected as BBC Radio 6 Music Radio’s album of the day.

Being selected as album of the day on BBC Radio 6 Music is a fantastic accolade for any band, especially given the station’s dedication to championing genuine, artful music. What’s even more impressive though is the fact that Wasuremono’s sophomore LP release – which dropped in mid-June ’19 – was a completely DIY affair, having been self-recorded and self-released on the band’s own label – Wilderness Records.

Wasuremono – whose drummer Isaac Phillips is a drum graduate from BIMM Bristol – are incredibly pleased with the news and publicly acknowledged BBC Radio 6 Music for their continued support from their early days right through to this latest release.

“We are still pinching ourselves that BBC6 awarded ‘Are You OK?’ to be their album of the day! It is hard to comprehend that an album that was recorded in a shed would go on to receive this sort of accolade!

We are so proud of our musical mastermind behind the writing, recording, and production of the album, Will Southward. Lastly, we cannot thank BBC6 enough for their incredible support over the years, and most importantly, to our fans who have been there with us and the journey of Wasuremono. There are more plans in the works for the future and we are very excited! x”

The news means that DJs Lauren Laverne, Mary Anne Hobbs, Shaun Keaveny and Steve Lamacq will all be broadcasting tracks from the LP on their respective shows throughout the day on July 3rd, 2019.
