At BIMM London, we offer a selection of highly vocational, real-world Diploma courses. Performers can choose from the Diploma in Popular Music Performance in Guitar, Bass, Drums or Vocals, while Songwriters can take the Diploma in Songwriting, and aspiring Music Producers the Diploma in Music Production.
Not only do these Diplomas provide you with a solid foundation of musical knowledge and technique, but they also teach you all you need to know about the reality of the music industry, while at the same time connecting you directly to it.
BIMM’s unique form of industry networking is all about collaboration. We connect our Diploma students to regular music business experiences, including Masterclasses hosted by internationally renowned guest artists, end-of-term gigs, A&R panels, the annual BIMM album, and participation in our summer festival work experience scheme which sees students of all levels and disciplines set-up, run and perform at these events.
We also have a dedicated career planning and support programme which provides you with ongoing engagement with the industry in the form of work placements, internships, CV advice, job hunting and more.
Our Diplomas are a flexible next step to the music industry, allowing you to either make your way straight into the music business or to continue on with your studies. 81% of our graduates are employed within six months of leaving BIMM, and of those, 64% are working directly in the music industry in roles such as performer, music business executive, producer, teacher and more. But if further study is on the agenda, Diplomas are a fantastic alternative route into Higher Education and the perfect gateway to a music degree at BIMM London.
One recent BIMM London graduate who has landed a top career in the music industry is soul vocalist, Izzy Bizu, whose new single ‘Adam & Eve’ is receiving BBC Radio 1 airplay. She’s also just toured as the support act for Sam Smith, has played Glastonbury twice, and will be performing at this year’s Latitude festival. And we mustn’t forget singer Kate Stewart, who features on Dutch producer Oliver Heldens’ massive UK Top 5 hit ‘Last All Night (Koala)’ and has recently been touring with ultra cool house duo, Bondax.
So… what does all this tell you? It shows that a Diploma from BIMM London really does connect you to both the workforce and the music business… and that connectivity is the key to music industry success.
If a career in the music industry is what you’re striving for, then there’s no better place to study than BIMM. Our Diplomas are the equivalent of two A-levels and will gain you a nationally recognised BTEC qualification upon completion.
