WHAT TO EXPECT
All killer. No filler. BIMM’s bass courses are structured to help you develop as a musician and industry professional. Every step of the way, you’ll be guided by our expert tutors – all current and respected artists with years of expertise to pass on. But that doesn’t mean you can’t go off the map, with a varied curriculum designed to prep your skill-set for employment.
In the modern industry, bulletproof live performance is a core skill for any professional bassist. As such, you can expect to spend plenty of time onstage in the Live Performance Workshop module, developing your live craft and finding your identity as a performer.
We believe that a watertight knowledge of all musical styles makes for an industry-ready bassist. That’s why a BIMM bass course will hone your skills across the board, with tuition in Technical Development, Theory, Ear Training and Session Styles, running the gamut from pop and R’n’B to folk and punk.
Our courses are both academically and musically challenging, providing the perfect balance between practical and technical skills, theory and analysis. When your hands aren’t on a fretboard, you’ll be exploring and developing potential career pathways through research and professional projects, learning the vital business skills that drive the modern industry.
You’ll want to plug into one-of-a-kind networking opportunities and collaborate with like-minded fellow musicians during your time on the course. And that couldn’t be easier, with access to the BIMM Connect service letting you hook up fast with fellow student, alumni, bandmates, songwriting collaborators, press agents, artist managers, event promoters and producers.
One size doesn’t fit all – so BIMM’s bass course puts you in control, tailoring the content to hit your own personal targets. Some students will max out their CV with a choice of optional modules including Solo Performance, Music Business Studies, Music Teaching Practice, Online Music and more. Others will diversify their skill-set with our five-week, mid-term BIMM Extra mini modules: choose from areas as varied as Music Production, Photoshop and Video Editing, Mindfulness Techniques, Essay Writing Skills, Entrepreneurship – and more.
