BIMM Dublin is pleased to announce ‘The Kevin Shields Music Production Scholarship’, which offers one student the opportunity to study on our three-year BA (Hons) Music Production course free of charge.
Dublin born music maverick Kevin Shields is a founding member of hugely influential band ‘My Bloody Valentine’ who have received many accolades for studio albums ‘Isn’t Anything’, ‘Loveless’ (winner of ‘The Classic Album Award’ in the MOJO Honours list 2008) and 2013’s ‘m b v’. Kevin is an internationally acclaimed and innovative producer/musician who along with his work in My Bloody Valentine, has produced, engineered, mixed and remixed recordings by other artists such as Primal Scream, Dinosaur Jr, The Pastels, Mogwai, Curve, Spacemen 3 and Paul Weller. Kevin was also nominated for both a BAFTA and an IFTA for his original compositions for the soundtrack of Sofia Coppola’s film ‘Lost in Translation’ and collaborated with legendary rock icon Patti Smith on the album ‘The Coral Sea’.
The BA (Hons) Music Production course, validated by University of Sussex), is a specialist programme designed for those wishing to pursue a career in a range of music industry roles, such as producer, sound engineer or creative artist.
Kevin says of the course: “It’s a good opportunity for a young producer to learn all about sound and techniques, it’s a cool course.”
