Grant Ford

Lecturer

Grant is an Irish/Canadian composer, producer and educator with a foundation in rock and soul music. He is the founding director of Blind Alley Productions, an entertainment company that writes and develops creative content for film, television and new media. He is also a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.

Grant studied a Doctorate in Composition at the Sonic Arts Research Centre of Queen’s University Belfast, and a Masters in Composition at Trinity College Dublin, composing a portfolio of post-minimalist works for voice and chamber ensemble.

He’s a composer and founding member for Kyai Jati Roso – National Concert Hall Gamelan Orchestra and a former arranger and soloist for the Bray Gospel Choir. Before returning to post-graduate study, Grant was the lead-vocalist and a creative director for a number of urban-music ensembles in Toronto, London and Montreal. He has produced and appeared on numerous original recordings. At one time, he was signed to EMI Music, where he enjoyed a Top 10 Hit in Canada with Twilight Rituals.
