Michael is a songwriter from Dublin. He first became involved in music through the Dublin underground/DIY music scene of the mid 1990s as a performer aged 15. He joined punk band Puget Sound in 1996 who went on to tour extensively across Ireland, the UK, Europe and Brazil. Following the band’s break up in 2006, Michael began studying Sociology and Social Policy at Trinity College, Dublin, while commencing a solo career under his nickname ‘Owensie’.

His songwriting is deeply intertwined with his interest in issues of identity, community, social justice and culture. He is presently signed with independent label Out On A Limb Records (home to Windings, Crayonsmith and GAMAK) and has released three studio albums with them in the past five years. His most recent LP ‘Dramamine’ was released in November 2015 and features performances and collaborations with drone artist Aonghus McEvoy (Woven Skull) and Conor O’Brien (Villagers).
