Aged 15, Simon won Guitarist magazine’s prestigious ‘Young Guitarist of the Year’ competition in a Wembley Conference Centre showdown.
He began his professional music career a few months after his 16th birthday, when he was recruited by the Belfast-based pioneering metal band, Sweet Savage. They were reforming in 1994 without their founding guitarist, Vivian Campbell (Dio, Def Leppard), and Simon went on to tour with the band, as well as recording two albums with them.
Over the course of his career, Simon has toured with Joe Satriani, and has performed with the likes of The Commitments vocalist, Andrew Strong, Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa, and US slide maestro and Grammy nominee, Derek Trucks. In more recent years, as a fully-fledged blues-rock virtuoso he has released two solo albums – ‘Rich Man Falling’ and ‘Since Then’.
