Magnus Chapple
Songwriter
Salisbury-born Magnus Chapple is a talented singer-songwriter and producer. The journey to his current sound has been strongly influenced by the community he was part of while studying at BIMM Music Institute London.
Singer-songwriters such as Jack Johnson, Nick Mulvey and Tom Odell broadened Magnus’s musical tastes, as well as more experimental and contemporary sounds from the likes of Anderson Paak and Kendrick Lamar. This combination of sounds continues to influence Magnus’s own sound today.
He has been practising music from an early age and began writing songs before he could play an instrument with simple a cappella lyrics and melodies. After the tragic death of his eldest brother, songwriting became a means of channelling the pain that he was feeling. He began to produce and learn piano, making Magnus a force to be reckoned with.
Magnus has been featured in playlists such as Spotify’s New Music Friday – a playlist with over 780,000 followers. He has also received praise from Clash Magazine and Complex and had airtime on BBC Music Introducing in the West.
