If you’ve not yet heard of Æ Mak, you’re seriously missing out.
Formed by BIMM Dublin graduates, Ellie McMahon and Aoife McCann, the “jungle indie” group have been the talk of the Irish music scene for some time now.
This up-and-coming six-piece – whose members also include Alin Sean Leonard (guitar/keyboard), Colm Rogan (guitar/keyboard/bass), Dylan Povey (drums) and Peter Kelly (percussion) – have been tipped as one of the must-see bands at this year’s Knockanstockan Festival in Wicklow.
The festival, which takes place at Blessington Lakes between Friday 22nd and Sunday 24th July, has a reputation for promoting new and exciting music.
We’re very excited to see Æ Mak included on the line-up, following the success of their brilliant debut single ‘I Can Feel It In My Bones’.
Previewing this year’s best festivals, campus.i.e‘s Glen Murphy spoke highly of both Knockanstockan and Æ Mak’s inclusion on the bill, which also includes The Hot Sprockets and Sample Answer. As Glen writes in his Festival Lowdown column:
“Fronted by BIMM Dublin graduates Ellie McMahon and Aoife McCann, Æ Mak are quickly becoming one of the hottest bands in the Irish music scene. Not long off the back of a highly successful single launch, these indie jungle poppers will give you chills from their beautiful vocals and make you feel their unique grooves.”
We’re so proud of what Æ Mak have achieved so far, both during and after their time here at BIMM Dublin. Their potential and talent were evident from the start. It’s great to see them play such a revered festival like Knockanstockan, which is now in its ninth year.
We can’t wait to see what the band pull out at Knockanstockan. We’re sure it’s going to be a very special occasion.
