BIMM Institute Dublin is delighted to announce the addition of a new and innovative Masters Degree to its already varied range of courses. This brand new study option will be available at our Dublin campus from September 2020 onwards and will be the highest level of qualification available at the college, offering BA (Hons) Degree graduates the opportunity to take their education to the next level.
Our new MA In Popular Music Practice (MA PMP)
This brand-new full-time only course, which is fully accredited by BIMM Institute, is innovative in its design and offers four named specialist pathways: entrepreneurship, performance, production and composition, making it suitable for candidates specialising in a wide range of fields.
This means that whatever direction you want to take your career in music – whether it’s into education, research, performance or another area of the creative industries – our postgraduate degree will allow you the freedom and the opportunity to pursue a specific area of interest such as:
- Popular Musicology
- Performance and Composition as Research
- Music Industry and Entrepreneurship Research
- Research in the Application of Technologies to Practice
What can you expect from the course?
Your contact time will be split between 1-2-1s with a specialist from your field, lectures and seminars where you study alongside students from different disciplines, and workshops with students from your own field. You will also be encouraged to collaborate with both your peers at BIMM Institute and external stakeholders.
Alan Cullivan, College Principal at BIMM Institute Dublin, was incredibly pleased with the announcement, saying:
“I am absolutely delighted that we are introducing this new innovative Masters program to our already varied list of courses on offer at BIMM Dublin. The introduction of this MA in Popular Music Practice is a natural progression for graduates from our BA (Hons) Commercial Modern Music.”
“Graduates from other areas of the creative arts and people with an interest and experience in the music industry may also wish to gain this unique Level 9 qualification. The exciting thing, and what’s key to this course, is the option to focus on specialist areas of the industry: Entrepreneurship, Performance, Production or Composition. We are looking forward to welcoming our first MA cohort into the creative community that is BIMM Institute Dublin.”
