It’s been another spectacular year for AIF’s Festival Congress conference, with plenty of insight and information on all things festivals. All of us at BIMM were hugely delighted to be a part of the action as lead educational partner and exclusive ticketing partner.

The two-day conference, which took place between 5th-6th November in Cardiff at the Wales Millennium Centre, featured a series of talks, special guests and live entertainment, and as always managed to draw a large crowd, with many of our students also in attendance.

BIMM hosted the Student Sessions section of the conference, our first at Festival Congress, with a panel hosted by Goc O’Callaghan – founder of ArcTanGent. Amongst the wide selection of topics covered at our event included the future of festivals, how starting your own event and getting involved in festivals.

Joining Goc were representatives from Count of Ten, One Inch Badge/Together the People and Camp Wildfire. The experts gave our audience some invaluable advice, and were happy to answer those all important audience questions after the talk.

Also in the crowd were a number of lucky event management students from BIMM Bristol. The students asked excellent questions and in return were given some great advice on how to break into the industry.

BIMM’s Festival Manager, our very own Suzi Ireland, praised the talk. She said: “The Student Sessions have proved very successful at the last two Great Escape festivals, held in Brighton, so we thought we would hold a festival focused version at Festival Congress this year.”

She added: “It went very well, the panellists were informative and very willing to provide one on one advice after the session. Students from across Cardiff attended and came out of the session buzzing, motivated and keen to start their careers in the festival and live industry.”

Thanks to all for attending and helping to make 2015’s Festival Congress one of the best yet!
