BIMM returns to Liverpool Sound City 2016

Festival News

We’re excited to announce that BIMM are returning to Liverpool Sound City for our third year running. Last year, the award-winning two-day city music festival was a resounding success for both BIMM artists and our backstage talent, and this year we’re aiming even higher.

‘BIMM Presents’ will once again take place at the Cavern Stage from 12 pm Saturday, where we will showcase one act each from our Dublin, Brighton, Bristol, London and Manchester colleges.

Sound City is a major UK festival for music, culture and the arts and is a terrific opportunity for developing artists to meet new audiences. Royal Blood, The 1975, Years & Years, Bastille, Clean Bandit, Florence and the Machine, The Maccabees, The xx, The Kooks and Ed Sheeran have all played at small venues at Sound City and gone on to great things.

The nominated artists we are proudly sending to Liverpool this year are:

Storme (BIMM London) : Hailing from Sweden and studying in London, Storme makes deep atmospheric music, mixing electronica with her own ambitious vocal work.

Bridges (BIMM Bristol) : Guitars are life-blood to Bristol four-piece Bridges, who draw influence from Kings Of Leon, Bombay Bicycle Club and others, with a sound that moves between indie and rock.

Vernon Jane (BIMM Dublin) : From Ireland we present an energetic and expressive Dublin-based outfit. A rock band with jazz sensibilities, and a jazz combo who seriously know how to rock out.

Atlas Wynd (BIMM Brighton) : Garage Rock Rules Okay for the loud and powerful North-East duo, Atlas Wynd. Their wall of sound is sure to get Liverpool Sound City up and rocking in no time.

Barron (BIMM Manchester) : Less than two years old and the anthemic piano and vocal work of Barron has already won them radio airplay and important fans. Their big tunes will fit right in at Liverpool’s expanding music festival and set them up for their forthcoming tour. The band told us:

“Liverpool Sound City is a festival we’ve wanted to play for a while, and BIMM has made it possible this year. This is probably the most important festival for us this summer with the amount of industry people who will be attending. We can’t wait to play our new tunes, who knows what could happen!”

Briggy Smale, BIMM’s Head of Guests, added:

“We’re proud to be part of the internationally renowned Liverpool Sound City for the third year. Our acts are carefully chosen by a LSC A&R team and represent the diversity of our unique talent.”

Once again BIMM students will be helping to run the set-up from backstage too, so it’s all hands to the deck for Liverpool Sound City 2016. See you at the docks!
