The three BIMM London Summer Schools have announced their full line-up of special musical guests for this year’s intensive week-long sessions.
The MusicRadar Summer School
The MusicRadar Summer Schoolis a Performance School focusing on pop and indie music styles. Each day students attend instrument-specific classes in the morning, supervised by tutors and special guests, with group rehearsal sessions taking place in the afternoons, finessing the material and moving towards a performance finale at the close of the week.
This year’s talented tutors represent a wealth of experience and skill from the music world. Our special guest Vocals tutor is Randolph Matthews. Randolph has worked with the likes of legendary Grace Jones, British rapper Plan B, record-breaking beatbox vocalist Shlomo and X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke.
Our special guest tutor for Drums is BIMM graduate Ben Thompson of successful Northern Irish indie band, Two Door Cinema Club whose Beacon album hit the number 2 spot and who are live favourites around the world.
Guitar students get the chance to work with a true professional in the shape of Adam Goldsmith. As a composer, tutor and producer, Adam has lent his skills to the work of Elton John, Brian May and Beverly Knight, while his TV work includes Strictly Come Dancing, The Voice and more.
Finally for our Bass tutorials we welcome Dave Troke, whose astonishing CV includes work with such artists as Donna Summer, Dido, Tulisa, The Noisettes, Nitin Sawhney, Andrea Bocelli, Jamelia, Nadine Coyle and many many more.
The Marshall Summer School
The Marshall Summer School works at the heavy rock/metal end of the musical spectrum, so who better than tech/speed/progressive metal outfit, SikTh to work with students on achieving their sound. Each band member will attend as a workshop tutor over the course of the week, with the whole band in attendance for live performances at the finish. Tutors and band members are Mikee Goodman for Vocals, James Leach for Bass, Graham Pinney for Guitar and Dan Foord for Drums, who will be with the class for the entire week!
The Ableton Music Production Summer School
The Ableton Music Production Summer School specialises in technical production and gives students chance to work with the latest cutting edge technology and the people who specialise in it.
Industry guests will be joining us every day to inspire you with their production methods and provide direct input into the development of your music. This year’s special guests include three Ableton Live experts – Rowan Perkins who produces and performs as both Loxe and Debian Blak; experienced drummer and producer Aram Zarikian, who’s worked with artists including Grasscut, Kathrin deBoer, Seamus Fogarty and Andreya Triana.
Last but not least, Phelan Kane brings his experiences in producing, programming, engineering, editing, mixing, performing and teaching. He is a Meta Junction Recordings artists as well as an Ableton Certified Trainer, in other words he’s at the very top of his game for technical prowess in the studio.
The week will be topped off with an amazing finale — the opportunity for you to show off the new skills you’ve learnt by performing live on stage and delivering your finished track to an audience of friends and family.
