Reading Music and Rhythm

These sessions introduce students to the core building blocks of music theory in a fun and practical way. Students will explore rhythm, timing, notation, and musical symbols while learning how these ideas connect to the music they already listen to and play.

No previous theory experience is needed. Through games, listening activities, and creative group tasks, students will build confidence in reading and understanding music in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Scales, Chords, and Harmony

These workshops explore how melodies, chords, and harmonies work together to create music. Students will be introduced to scales, intervals, triads, and major and minor keys while discovering how these ideas are used in contemporary music.

The focus is on learning through practical activities and creative exercises, helping students understand theory by putting it into action.

Aural Skills and Creative Application

These sessions help students develop listening skills and musical confidence through fun and creative activities. Students will learn how to recognise rhythms, melodies, and chords by ear while exploring how theory connects to songwriting, performance, and music-making.

Working together in a supportive classroom environment, students will be encouraged to experiment, collaborate, and enjoy the creative side of music theory.
