As festival mission statements go, this is a pretty inspiring one:
‘Together the People’s primary focus is to celebrate Music, Food, Community, Film and Arts within the city of Brighton by delivering a high quality, creative, family friendly and socially aware flagship event accessible to all.’
This year is the very first outing for Together the People, a five thousand capacity Brighton green field festival which has already attracted big name headliners in its first year. BIMM Brighton will have a special presence at the festival, helping to launch the new event which takes place over the weekend of 5th and 6th of September.
BIMM will be running their very own music stage at Together the People, entitled ‘BIMM Presents’. Across the two day event, a total of eighteen bands from BIMM Brighton will perform on the BIMM Presents stage for festival goers.
Not only that but BIMM students will be backstage too, helping to produce the BIMM Presents line-up in conjunction with Together the People’s own production team. BIMM students are also taking up various other festival roles across site, getting the most out of this exciting new partnership and giving students the essential hands-on experience that is part and parcel of their time at BIMM.
The main stages will see live performances from the legendary Martha Reeves and UK Hip-Hop pioneer Roots Manuva, plus big names such as Super Furry Animals, The Levellers, Billy Bragg, Ghost Poet, Brakes and many more. Over at BIMM Presents, Saturday will see live sets from Verity Sessions, Thoughts, Aniseed Treats, The Rocking Horse Club, Orchards, Safe to Swim, Mindofalion, Atlas Wynd and Rory Indiana. On Sunday you can enjoy live music from The Island Club, Frankie Furlow, Lu’Ami, Astrid’s Tea Party, Thyla, Big Society, Written in Waters and Wild Cat Strike.
It’s a pretty special line-up all round and an exciting new partnership for BIMM and Together the People, ensuring great exposure and experience for our students in 2015 and beyond.
