James Frankland

Session Musician

Since completing his course at BIMM Manchester in 2017, James has begun forging a promising career as a session guitarist, doing a mixture of recording, performance and live pit work for a range of musical theatre shows. 

Productions in which James has carried out guitar duties include long-term stints with ‘Hair’, ‘Spring Awakening’, ‘Tick Tick…Boom’ (London) and’A Night Of Music’ – a ‘Sater & Sheik’ review show.

He has performed at numerous key venues and festivals throughout the UK and Germany, with highlights including The Royal Albert Hall (Music for Youth proms 2017), The 02 Ritz Manchester, Leeds Festival, 2000 Trees, The Great Escape festival, Sound city Liverpool, Glass Butter Beach, Union Chapel- London, Privat Club (Berlin) and The Culture Container (Berlin).

James’ talents also extend to numerous studio recording experiences, including sessions at Animal Farm (London), Blueprint (Salford), the Grand (Clitheroe), Manchester Midi School, the Lounge (Wigan) and Music Box (Manchester).

Additionally, James recently started working for the show ‘Britain’s rare guitars’ which showcases the work of expert builders, luthiers and collectors.
