This event has been cancelled.
In the interest of health and safety due to the current situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus), BIMM Institute has taken the decision to close our UK colleges (BIMM Brighton, BIMM Bristol, BIMM Birmingham, BIMM London and BIMM Manchester) and offices to students, staff and visitors.
Unfortunately, this means cancelling upcoming events until further notice, but we are planning to reschedule for a later date. We are also looking into ways to ensure our applicants and prospective students still feel part of our BIMM community. If you have any questions, you can contact our Admissions Team 08442 646 666, email firstname.lastname@example.org or talk on Live Chat.
If you are a songwriter or performer and want to develop real-world entrepreneurship skills, then join us at BIMM Institute Manchester on Friday 27th March at 10:00am.
Get a glimpse of how life at BIMM prepares you for working in the industry. Meet our successful alumni, expert lecturers and learn from their engaging workshops. Whether you’re a budding songwriter or entrepreneur, then this is the event for you!
The day will feature performances from Emmanuel J Burton (first solo drummer at Manchester International Festival) Morgan Harper Jones (signed to PIAS records) accompanied by Tom Poggi, and an interview with Music Business alumni Sam Broadbent and Cameron Cooper. Sam is band manager to True Heights and Cameron has his own YouTube channel with 40,000 subscribers and over 7 million views.
Our Course Leaders for Songwriting and Music Business will deliver a mini taster lesson before lunch and the afternoon will culminate in a masterclass with an industry panel including Matthew Deighton (Oasis, Paul Weller) and Simon Aldred (Ivor Novello Winner, Cherry Ghost).
Members of our Student Support, Admissions and Finance teams will be on hand to answer any questions, give you a tour of our college and ensure you’re fully informed and have all your enquires answered. We can’t wait to see you soon!
Meet Your Panellists
Deighton came to the spotlight in the 1980s as part of London-based indie rock band The Wolfhounds, before forming the group Mother Earth in the early 90s. As the band’s chief songwriter he was responsible for some of their most memorable songs, including the ballad ‘Jesse’.
Following this, he toured with Paul Weller as their lead guitarist before joining Oasis as Noel Gallagher’s temporary replacement on their world tour. He has produced several brilliant albums and has recorded/written with Dr John, Beverley Martyn, Chris Difford, Linda Thompson, Marti Pellow and Bill Fay.
A documentary film covering his life in music will be released in cinemas later this year.
Simon Aldred is perhaps best known to the world by his recording name, Cherry Ghost. He is a guitarist, a singer and an Ivor Novello Award-winning songwriter. As well as his own successful career, Simon has collaborated with a host of fellow artists including Sam Smith, Birdy, Kwabs, Becky Hill, Rae Morris and Lianne La Havas.
