BIMM Manchester band Duke Mercury join the growing list of BIMM artists to play a coveted slot at RADAR, the regular Music Week industry showcase night.
Duke Mercury have a raw and scratchy, yet melodic rock sound, reminiscent of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and White Stripes, with an occasional psychedelic twist. Their music is the perfect fodder to get things rolling with a boisterous live turn at the forthcoming RADAR event. The gig takes place on Thursday 25 June at the Under the Bridge venue in Chelsea, London. Other acts performing at the event are The Carnabys, Blizzard, Polar, Raheem Bakare and Harriet.
Previous BIMM acts who have performed at the popular live RADAR showcase events are Glass City Vice (from BIMM Brighton), Circumnavigate (BIMM London), Tail Feather (Bristol), Joe Dolman (Brighton) and Bella Figura (London). Each of the artists represented the ‘BIMM Breaking’ section of the line-up which opens each RADAR event with an up-and-coming talent from one of the colleges.
In further news, the RADAR industry gigs will soon spread their wings to include Manchester. The first Manchester RADAR event will take place on Monday 22 June at the legendary Band On The Wall venue in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
Izzy Bizu, the talented singer-songwriter and alumnus of BIMM London, will join the four other artists on the bill – Blizzard, The Carnabys, The Lottery Winners and The Kaptivators. Izzy has recently been added to the BBC Radio 1 ‘In New Music We Trust’ playlist so it’s a perfect time to catch her particular brand of breezy intelligent soul music in the flesh.
Tickets for both the London RADAR gig and the Manchester RADAR gig are on sale right now. Grab your chance to see some future music stars in action. Duke Mercury will also appear at Derbyshire’s Y Not Festival later this summer.
